 Bahria Town Karachi:  has announced strict measures against the unauthorized cutting, removal, or destruction of trees and plants across the community, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the township’s green spaces and maintaining a healthy urban environment.

The directive has been issued by the Maintenance & Services Department through Circular No. BTK/M&S/307, following concerns over the indiscriminate cutting and removal of trees. The administration has emphasized that trees play an important role in maintaining biodiversity, improving air quality, and supporting a sustainable living environment.

Under the new directive, residents, contractors, private gardeners, developers, and site workers are required to comply with BTK’s prescribed procedures before carrying out any work involving trees or major vegetation.

Strict Ban on Unauthorized Tree Cutting

BTK management has made it clear that cutting down, removing, damaging, or significantly altering any tree or plant without prior authorization is strictly prohibited.

Unauthorized removal of trees or major branches will be treated as a violation of the community’s established rules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Routine maintenance and minor trimming may be carried out where necessary, provided that the work does not compromise the overall health, structure, or integrity of the tree.

Horticulture Department Approval Mandatory

Residents and developers who require a tree to be removed, relocated, or transplanted must obtain prior approval from the BTK Horticulture Department.

Formal requests must be submitted before any such work begins. No tree removal or transplantation should be undertaken without the required clearance from the relevant department.

The requirement is intended to ensure that necessary tree-related work is assessed properly and that avoidable damage to the community’s green cover is prevented.

Strict Penalties for Violations

BTK management has warned that violations of the directive will be dealt with seriously. Individuals, contractors, or other parties found responsible for unauthorized tree cutting or damage may face administrative action under applicable BTK regulations and SOPs.

  • Financial fines imposed under BTK regulations.

  • Recovery of restoration or replacement costs for damaged or removed vegetation.
