Bahria Town Karachi Bans Underage Driving, Announces Strict Action Against Violators
KARACHI: The Maintenance & Services Department of Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) has issued a new public service announcement imposing strict restrictions on underage driving and scooty riding within the housing community.
Through Circular No. BTK/M&S/310 dated August 31, 2026, the management warned residents that minors are strictly prohibited from driving or riding cars, motorcycles, scooties or any other motorized vehicles inside Bahria Town Karachi. The decision has been issued amid concerns over an increasing number of serious and fatal road accidents.
Strict Responsibility Placed on Parents and Guardians
According to the circular, parents and guardians have been strictly prohibited from providing, permitting or facilitating the use of motorized vehicles by minors.
The management stated that parents or guardians will be held responsible for violations committed by their children, while strict enforcement action will be taken against those found violating the restrictions.
Vehicles of Underage Riders to Be Impounded
Bahria Town Karachi management has announced that any minor found driving or riding a motorized vehicle within BTK will be stopped immediately and the vehicle will be impounded.
The impounded vehicle will not be released unless the applicable fine is paid and a written undertaking from the parent or guardian is submitted to the management.
Parents Could Face Legal and Financial Consequences
The circular further makes parents and guardians responsible for allowing or facilitating underage driving or riding.
In cases involving reckless driving, collisions, accidents, injuries, or damage to public or private property, the concerned parent or guardian may face applicable legal, financial and administrative consequences.
The management also warned that repeated violations could result in heavy fines and additional administrative action against the concerned resident.
Helmet Compliance Also Mandatory
The restrictions are not limited to minors. Bahria Town Karachi has also warned motorcycle and scooty riders, regardless of age, that riding without a proper helmet or violating applicable road-safety requirements will result in immediate enforcement action.
Management Appeals for Greater Road Safety
